Recruiting volunteer Reading Helpers for primary schools
20th of March, 2026
We are currently recruiting volunteer Reading Helpers for primary schools in the Wigan area, and we’re reaching out to local, community-minded businesses to ask for your support in spreading the word. Having volunteers from the local community makes a huge difference to children’s confidence and progress with reading. Even a small amount of promotion can help us reach people who may not otherwise hear about the opportunity. I wondered if you might be willing to help by: Displaying our electronic flyer in your premises, and/or Sharing our volunteer opportunity on your social media channels or newsletter If you do share us online, I’d love it if you could let me know so I can see where we’re reaching people locally. If you would prefer, I can also arrange to post printed copies of our flyer. About the volunteer role What our Reading Helpers do: Support primary-aged children with their reading Commit around one afternoon per week during term time Receive full training, DBS checks, and ongoing support from Coram Beanstalk Volunteers don’t need teaching experience, just time, patience, and a love of reading.
